The promotion for Iron Man 2 is moving full steam ahead with the film scheduled to hit theatres on 7 May 2010. The studio have recently released a new promotional poster depicting Mickey Rourke as the villain Whiplash. Word on the street is that the version of Whiplash we'll see in the film Iron Man 2 includes elements of both Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo from the Marvel Comics.

As you can see in the poster, Whiplash is going to be Ram-esque (check out The Wrestler).

In this other shot from the film it looks like Whiplash's costume may have borrowed a little from the original Iron Man armor.

Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson. Don Cheadle is replacing Terence Howard in the role of Lt. Colonel James Rhodes/War Machine.

The Marvel website has confirmed that the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, will be getting his very own solo movie. This is big news... for me at least... There is not a lot of information available as yet but Marvel are saying that... well not a lot, so I'll just cut and paste:

The newly confirmed Deadpool film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds slated to star and would be a complete exploration of the character - his origins, his emergence as the Merc with the Mouth, and more!

This news is enough to give me a cyber chubby. I am hoping that they completely forget about the "Deadpool" that featured in the closing stages of the Wolverine movie though. For me that was the worst part of the Wolverine film.

I just read on the Marvel website that Joe Johnston has signed on to direct the Captain America movie. This is pretty big news, actually I hadn't even heard that a Captain America movie had been confirmed.

Any way, here's what Marvel have to say on their website:

Joe Johnston has signed on to direct Marvel Studios' "The First Avenger: Captain America" based on characters developed by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. The film will be produced by Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige. Executive Producers on the project are Louis D'Esposito, Stan Lee and Marvel Studios' Chairman David Maisel. Paramount Pictures will distribute "The First Avenger: Captain America" worldwide. The film will come to theaters domestically on May 6, 2011.

It what some people might view as a concern, Johnston's track recorded is not exactly golden. He has previously directed "October Sky," "Jumanji," "Jurassic Park III," "The Rocketeer" and "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids."

If you haven't seen it yet, here's the X-Men Origins: Wolverine teaser trailer.

This one looks like the real deal, not a video camera at Comic Con thing. No pudgy guy tooling around like the Star Wars kid.

Get ready for some excitement! Wolverine is one bad mutha!

Ok, maybe I was wrong, on second viewing it might be a fake. » Read the rest of the entry..

Wolverine's first appearance was in the Incredible Hulk #180 in October 1974. Since then the Hulk and Wolverine have faced off a couple of times in the comics, but as far as I'm aware, they have yet to take the battle to the large, or small screen... until now.

I didn't realise that a Wolverine Vs. Hulk animated feature was even in the works, but according to this teaser trailer, it looks set to hit in January 2009.

So here it is in all it's bone cracking glory.

As a comic geek, I felt that it was my duty to go along and see The Dark Knight a second time. Since I loved it so much the first time, for my second viewing I decided to go big, and it doesn't get much bigger than IMAX. Needless to say, The Dark Knight blew me away for a second time, although this time it was on a much bigger scale!

In my opinion, Christopher Nolan has nailed the essence of Batman, and Heath Ledger's macabre and twisted portrayal of the Joker ensures that The Dark Knight sets a new standard for comic book movies. If you haven't seen the movie yet, stop reading this and get along to your local cinema. You won't be disappointed. » Read the rest of the entry..

The Wolverine: Origins movie is set to hit cinemas some time in 2009. Besides the release of a couple of official images as well as casting announcements, not a lot else about the movie has made it out... until now.

I was trawling through some comics forums when I found some screen shots taken from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine teaser trailer screened recently at Comic-Con in the US. I've done a little cropping of the photos and tried to tidy them up, with limited success. They are obviously screen captures from footage taken with a video camera, so don't expect pristine picture quality.

Let's start with a couple of shots of young Wolverine. These seem to be very close to a couple of the panels from the Wolverine Origin series. Take note of the bone claws.
